These new apartments designed at Southdowns Park form part of the residential conversion and regeneration of the St Francis' Hospital, a collection of Grade II Listed Victorian buildings that were once an NHS asylum in West Sussex.

The elevations of the new apartments feature multi-coloured brick banding with brick arches above the windows and carefully chosen masonry details, designed in a style to complement the polychromatic brickwork of the original Italianate Victorian architecture seen elsewhere on the development.

The six apartments are on the north-east corner of the site and replace a poor quality building that had been demolished. The new apartments are two-bedroom and each has allocated private parking and use of the communal gardens that have been landscaped and re-planted to closely follow the original Victorian designs.

The project included both the detailed design and the complex negotiations with the local authority to obtain planning permission and listed building approval.
